More Than Continuing Medical Education: A Learning Center Built for Advanced Practice Clinicians

By: Terri Schmitt PhD, APRN, FNP-BC, FAANP

Some of the comments I receive are, "Where can I find quality education that is actually relevant to my practice?", “I would love to have something more engaging than a PDF file to read and a long test to take for CE, but how do I sift through what is out there?”, or even “I saw you had (XYZ) conference and I really wanted to be there but I couldn’t get away.”

The answer to all of them sounds cliché but is simple: learn.npace.org.

I’ve been in the same place as fellow clinicians who commented the above. I’ve felt frustration at PDF education, bored reading and answering questions, and irritated by limited ability to travel or take time off for CME/CE that looked amazing. Yet, staying abreast of updates is a duty for clinicians, for patients and practice safety. At NPACE, my team agrees! We believe advanced practice professional development should do more than meet a licensing or certification requirement, but provide immediate, clinically applicable information, that is exciting, engaging, provides new evidence, and supports clinicians throughout every career stage, from new graduate to seasoned clinician, educator, and leader.

NPACE created our on-demand learning center precisely to meet this goal. Our content is built specifically for practicing clinicians by nationally recognized practicing clinical experts who understand the unique role of nurse practitioners and physician associates. Every program the NPACE education committee and department of education select because it answers an important clinical question, fills a knowledge gap, or prepares clinicians for what's coming next in healthcare.

Radiology, skills, medication updates, guideline updates, one course, multiple courses… can’t decide (because I never can, I truly love it all) … well you don’t have to choose when our All-in-One Education Bundle provides 12 months of unlimited access to our complete online learning library. It's our most comprehensive educational offering in the history of NPACE.

Looking for state-specific licensing requirements? Our State CE Page makes it easy to locate courses to satisfy many state licensure requirements. Specific physician associate content to help PAs meet their licensing needs and locate information on their state, whether courses are purchased or not.

We're also proud to partner with the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) to offer the New Faculty Development Program, helping prepare the next generation of nurse practitioner educators. As more experienced clinicians transition into academia, these resources provide practical guidance for becoming confident, effective faculty members.

Innovation is always a part of NPACE's mission, and nowhere is that more evident than one great product our Radiology Virtual Conference from this year. Covering the head, chest, abdomen, and long bones, this comprehensive series provides practical imaging interpretation skills designed specifically for APPs in education that is difficult to find anywhere else in our profession.

I also love a bargain and/or a last chance to get something unique. Because clinical knowledge evolves quickly, our education turns over about every 12 to 18 months. In our Featured Deals section there is exceptional savings on courses that won't remain in our catalog forever, including outstanding programs like Precision Medicine in Mental Healthcare Pharmacology Bundle. If you are a PMHNP, you really need this education before it is gone. Once these offerings retire, they're gone.

If you're wondering where to begin, two courses stand out as "must-watch" education this year. I had the honor of seeing both of these sessions live and even though I have practice over 25 years as an APP I found both hugely helpful to my practice!

  • A Picture is Worth 1,000 Words: Skin Manifestations of Systemic Disease with Dr. Amelie Hollier. Skin complaints are among some of the most common reasons patients seek care, yet dermatology remains an area where many clinicians wish they had more confidence. Amelie's practical, image-rich presentation offers pearls you can apply immediately in everyday practice.
  • Coming soon in August, 2026 New Medication Updates by Dr. Wendy wright. Every APP should complete 2026 Medication Updates with Dr. Wendy Wright. Medication approvals, new indications, safety updates, and guideline changes continue at an incredible pace, making this one of the most valuable practice updates available today.

Healthcare never stands still, and neither should we. I invite you to explore everything available at learn.npace.org. The next great learning experience, and perhaps the answer to your next challenging patient encounter, is waiting there… anytime, anyplace.
