Healthcare Areas That Challenge Me
By: Terri Schmitt PhD, APRN, FNP-BC, FAANP
Executive Director, NPACE
As a multi-state practicing NP, some practice areas continue to be challenging to navigate stemming from complexity, changing legal landscapes, and lack of specialists to refer to or delay in care access to specialists. Areas I am seeking more clarity, guidance, and talking points include:
- Suicide awareness, screening, and intervention
- Substance use disorder assessment and treatment
- Improving maternal health outcomes, particularly in women of color and those in health deserts
- Increasing access and use of long-acting contraception
- Unintended pregnancy advice and management
- Addressing health disparities among minority populations.
- HIV prevention and treatment.
- Benzodiazepine use and prescribing
- Obesity prescribing (particularly in Florida for all advanced practice providers)
When The NPACE education department and ANCC planning committee planned the biggest needs for 2025, many of the volunteers who advised us, felt these topics were problematic for them as well. Luckily, NPACE has pulled these topics together and they will be featured at our first conference of 2025 in Las Vegas!
The NPACE Las Vegas conference will tackle all these topics in one place! NPACE will also feature delicious breakfast and lunch items each day, help you connect with other clinicians, and make you feel taken care of at a conference in a way you likely have not been in the past! Our goal is to provide exceptional continuing education with rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation in mind!
And… because I believe in the importance of these topics so much (and that clinicians need time away and pampering) I am giving an EXCLUSIVE additional 20% off this conference. Use the code VEGAS20 until 1/17/24, but hurry the room block closes and there is an additional discount if you book your room first and get a confirmation code to enter.
