I am currently licensed in 10 states and CME/CE compliance is a headache! My dream was to have one place where NPs and PAs could find all the information on licensing in all 50 states.
As nurse practitioners and physician assistants, staying current with state-specific continuing medical education (CME/CE) requirements is essential not only for license renewal, but for professional growth and optimal patient outcomes. As someone licensed in multiple states providing primary care and diabetes management to patients with limited access to resources, I know juggling different requirements for education can be cumbersome! I have often longed for a single document or place to get all of my information on licensing education requirements.
At NPACE, we understand the complexity and variability of state licensing requirements, and we share in a desire to help simplify access to information. That’s why we are proud to introduce our new State CE page—a comprehensive, on-demand resource designed to support your licensing journey with confidence and clarity.
Each state has its own unique set of CE/CME requirements for license renewal. While some states require none at all other than continued national certification of the provider, others mandate upwards of 100 hours over a set amount of time. Frequently, in states requiring specified CE/CME common or state population health practice topics are included such as controlled substances, human trafficking, domestic violence, medication errors, and more. Navigating these requirements can be overwhelming, especially when they change frequently or include specialty-specific mandates.
To simplify this process, NPACE has developed a new on-demand State CE page and product section tailored to the needs of nurse practitioners and physician assistants. Our downloadable document outlines each state’s CE requirements and provides direct links to state licensing boards. Whether you’re renewing in Alabama or Alaska, we’ve got you covered with accurate, up-to-date information.
For states with specific CE mandates, NPACE offers curated course suggestions to help you meet those requirements efficiently. Our 'Build Your Own Bundle' program allows you to select individual courses and receive an additional discount—making it easier and more affordable to stay compliant.
In addition to state-specific CE, our Learning Center at https://learn.npace.org/ offers a wide range of on-demand content for advanced practice providers. From clinical skills like suturing, EKG interpretation, and lab analysis to specialized topics such as dizziness workups, precision medicine for mental health, and advanced pharmacotherapeutics, NPACE delivers high-quality education from national experts. Our users continually rate our learning and the on-demand experience as outstanding. Topic updates span radiology interpretation to Alzheimers diagnosis.
