For APPs, By APPs: No Paywall, Just Purpose – the Friends of NPACE Podcast

By Terri Schmitt, PhD, APRN, FAANP, FNP-BC
Executive Director, NPACE

As we head into November, I want to highlight one of our most impactful achievements at NPACE, the Friends of NPACE podcast - and the community who helps it thrive.

In just two seasons, NPACE reached over 8,000 downloads across Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube with even more listeners across our NPACE events and our learning center. That’s more moments of connection, learning, and reflection for all Advanced Practice Providers than we can get in any other one single medium. But this podcast is more than just numbers—it’s yet another way we extend our mission of providing relevant information to APPs everywhere.

Our Mission: Access for All APPs – No cost, no barriers

The Friends of NPACE podcast was created to reach APPs wherever they are—without requiring a membership, paid subscription, or complex access. As a non-profit, NPACE is committed to delivering cutting-edge content often not covered in other clinical education settings or by other podcasts. We come with relatable experts in the field who are prepared to engage, have honest discussions, and answer real questions clinicians face daily. In the Friends of NPACE Podcasts we don’t only tackle clinical disease—we explore the full spectrum of topics and issues that define being an APP clinician on the front lines of practice. The Friends of NPACE podcast boasts unique topics, powerful guests, grant funding, partners with critical information or updates, and stakeholders in clinical practice. Of course, in my opinion, we have top-notch hosts and a continued supply of clinicians who provide our audience with needed information.

Our podcast offers flexible access – listen on Apple Podcasts or Spotify for on-the-go convenience during commutes, walks, or daily activities, or watch full video episodes on YouTube to experience engaging conversations with our featured guests

Unique Topics, Powerful Guests

Across Seasons 1 and 2, we’ve welcomed some incredible voices. A few of my favorites were:

These conversations go beyond textbooks; they’re real, relevant, and deeply human. There is not one episode where I have the honor of hosting and talking to peers where I don’t come away with some piece of vital information to change my practice. No matter what I learn, what always strikes me the deepest is their true humanity and passion for service by practicing and teaching other clinicians to help other APPs and patients.

Don’t worry! If you missed them you can find these great episodes anytime on Youtube to watch us inaction.

CME/CE Opportunities—Thanks to Generous Grants

One of the parts of the podcast I am most proud of is the ability to offer CE/CME through educational grant funding on important clinical topics that we at NPACE feel strongly in providing to all clinicians. I want to extend a very special thanks to Haleon, Genentech, and Novo for supporting these standout episodes:

💊 Season 2, Episode 16 – “Type 2 Diabetes Meds: Intersection of New Science & Guidelines”
Endocrinology expert Gary Graf, APP, shares clinical pearls for applying the 2025 ADA Standards of Care in practice. This episode helps clinicians navigate the evolving landscape of T2DM medications and offers 0.5 CME/CE credit, including 0.5 pharmacology credit. Supported by an education grant from Novo.

🤕 Season 2, Episode 18 – “Pain in the Head! Why Migraines Matter in Primary Care”
Dr. Amy Bruno, trusted neurology expert, breaks down the first steps in treating migraines and explains how even minor schedule changes can trigger episodes. Supported by an educational grant from Haleon.

💤 Season 2, Episode 21 – “Snooze Blues: The Intersection of Pain & Sleep Disturbance”
Featuring Dr. Heather Jackson, who helps APPs explore how acute and chronic pain disrupt sleep—and vice versa. Dr. Jackson shares practical, evidence-based tips for assessment and management. (Did you know cherry juice can help improve sleep?) We are grateful for this learning through an educational grant from Haleon.

🧠 Season 2, Episodes 19 & 20 – “Inflammatory Bowel Syndrome Diagnosis and Management” (Parts 1 & 2)
Dr. Peter Buch, MD, guides listeners through accurate diagnosis and high-level medication management for IBS. This two-part series is packed with clinical pearls and is worth 1.0 CME/CE credit and 0.5 CE credit, thanks to a generous grant from Genentech.

We’re just getting started—and Season 3 is already in the works. If you haven’t subscribed yet, now’s the time!
