In light of the recent COVID-19 developments, and specifically, extended stay-at-home orders and restrictions on mass gatherings in Massachusetts, NPACE has made the difficult but necessary decision to cancel the Clinical Essentials: NPACE Intensive Skills Training in Waltham, Massachusetts (July 13-16). Those registered for the conference were notified by email earlier today and provided with details on registration refunds and guidance on canceling hotel and travel arrangements. Congratulations on your successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program! Do you find, though, that you still have questions to be answered? Desire to learn or improve upon some skills to prepare for your first NP job? Then join us as we present our first Clinical Essentials NPACE Intensive Skills Training conference.

This is not your typical NPACE conference. At this “bootcamp” format conference in Waltham, you’ll learn about topics such as contract negotiations, malpractice, and documentation so that you can feel more confident in your role. And you’ll have the opportunity for hands-on training with NP experts on topics such as joint injections and dermatology procedures. We look forward to having you join us!

Speakers

Susan Bowlin, MSN, FNP-BC, ACNP-BC, CBN
Susan is a dual certified nurse practitioner that has been in practice for 22 years. She has worked in a variety of practice settings including private practice to rounding on CV surgical patients in the ICU. She has enjoyed the extensive foundation this has provided her. Over the past several years, she has specialized in obesity medicine which has been a thrill to discover a specialty where she gets to assist her patients in risk reduction, disease remission and see quality of life improve on a daily basis. During her career, she has developed a passion for taking seemingly complex concepts and breaking them down into manageable puzzles pieces that we build together!
Angela Golden, DNP, FNP-C, FAANP
Dr. Angela Golden, is a current fellow and past president of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Her tenure as the president of the AANP gives her a unique and overarching perspective of the multifunctional role of the Nurse Practitioner. For the past 18 years, Angie has had her own practice—NP from Home, LLC—where she provides clinical services in a family practice and for the past 3 years a subspecialty obesity practice, NP Obesity Treatment Clinic. Angie has a great deal of experience in leadership positions and clinical practice. She has authored peer-reviewed articles and book chapters covering a range of health topics including health policy. She has presented nationally and internationally with an emphasis on health policy, leadership, and various clinical topics.
Alison Marshall, MSN, FNP-C
Alison Marshall is a board certified, practicing Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). She earned her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Sociology with Honors from Boston College in 2000, and her Master’s in Nursing from Yale University in 2005. She is currently matriculating in the PhD program at Boston College, with expected graduation in 2023. Alison’s nursing practice is based in Massachusetts. Alison has practiced at the South Boston Community Health Center since 2005. She is a full-time Clinical Instructor at the Boston College Connell School of Nursing. Alison is Faculty at The Sylvie Ratelle STD/HIV Prevention Center of New England, a Centers for Disease Control (CDC) funded national training organization for practicing providers. She engages in clinical research regarding sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and lectures to practicing clinicians nationally and internationally about the identification, treatment, and prevention of STDs.
Karen M. Myrick, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, ANP-C
Dr. Karen M. Myrick is Associate Professor of Nursing, with a Joint Appointment in the School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University in Connecticut, and Nurse Practitioner at Orthopedic Associates. Dr. Myrick has 30 years of nursing experience, nurse practitioner for 19, and professor for 7. She continues to maintain a clinical practice in orthopedics and sports medicine in the orthopedic urgent care, and is an avid half marathoner, triathlete and martial artist. The recipient of multiple research grants, she publishes regularly in peer-reviewed journals, and actively reviews for several. Her research focus is sports medicine, and she has contributed to multiple published books, and is the primary author and editor of a book for Springer Publishing released in September 2016. Dr. Myrick received the 2016 National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) “Outstanding Researcher Award” and multiple “Outstanding Poster Awards”. Committee work includes Membership for the Council for the Advancement of Nursing Science (CANS), Education and Resources for the (National organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculty) NONPF, Government Relations for CTAPRNs. Board work includes Strategic Advisory for the global, interprofessional Clinical Case Reports Journal, and the Center for Responsibility, Education and Action, and the New England Shoulder and Elbow Society. Dr. Myrick has worked with a national workgroup to draft the guidelines for appropriate use of injections in osteoarthritic knees. Proudly, Dr. Myrick is also the room parent for her daughter’s fourth grade.
Brett Snodgrass, FNP-C, CPE, FACPP, FAANP
Brett Badgley Snodgrass has been a Family Nurse Practitioner for 12 years, practicing in multiple settings. She is the NP Director of Palliative Care Services for the Baptist Healthcare System in Memphis, TN. She is also the owner of BBS Health Education – where she creates and presents continuing education for healthcare providers, both live and online. She is a nationally recognized nurse practitioner speaker and teacher. She is also an award-winning healthcare blogger – The NP Mom. Her blog offers answers to patient’s questions they often forget to ask! You can visit her blog at www.thenpmom.wordpress.com. Brett Is a chronic pain expert, working for more than 20 years with chronic pain patients in many settings. Brett is board certified with the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, where she is currently the TN State Representative. She is also a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Brett received the 2015 AANP State Excellence Award for Tennessee for her work across the state on the TN Chronic Pain Task Force, as well as advocating for TN Full Practice Authority for Nurse Practitioners. She was also awarded the 2017 Memphis Business Journal Healthcare Hero Award.
Michael E. Zychowicz, DNP, FAAN, FAANP
Michael E Zychowicz, DNP is a Professor at Duke University School of Nursing where he is the Director of the MSN Program. Dr. Zychowicz has built a 20-year career in orthopedics as both a clinician, educator and scholar. He leads the only Orthopedic NP graduate educational program at Duke. Dr. Zychowicz is board certified as both an Adult NP and Orthopedic NP.

REFUND AND CANCELLATION POLICY

FEES:
All registrations must be paid in full by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover) at the time of registration. NPACE no longer accepts payment by check.

CANCELLATION BY REGISTRANT:
Written notice of cancellation must be received by email or letter. A refund, excluding the $50 non-refundable administrative fee, will be issued when cancellation is received no later than one month prior to the conference start date. Refunds are processed based on the original form of payment.

A letter of credit, excluding the $50 non-refundable administrative fee, will be issued when cancellation is received between 30 and 8 days of the conference start date. This is valid for 12 months from issuance and may be used for towards any NPACE conference.

No refunds will be issued for cancellations received within 7 days of the conference start date.

CANCELLATION OF EVENT:
In the very unlikely event that NPACE cancels or postpones a conference due to circumstances beyond its control, NPACE’s liability shall be limited to refund of paid registration fees.
